How to play Daily Sleeve

Daily Sleeve is a free daily album-cover guessing game. Start with a small part of the artwork, identify the artist, then test your knowledge of the album and its original release year. You can play in your browser without an account or a download.

1. Guess the artist

You have six guesses or skips. Each unsuccessful guess or skip reveals more of the cover. Identifying names and titles are hidden in the clues. Solve earlier to earn more points: 600 on the first reveal, then 500, 400, 300, 200 or 100.

2. Name the album

Next, identify the album in up to six guesses or skips. A correct answer earns up to 250 points. Optional title hints reveal the title’s shape and then letters. Each title hint costs 25 album points without using a guess.

3. Guess the original release year

Enter the year the album first came out, rather than the date of a remaster or reissue. The year round is worth up to 150 points. Your maximum total across the artist, album and year rounds is 1,000.

4. Give your own rating

Rate the record from 0.0 to 10.0, or skip if you haven’t heard it. This round is unscored. Your rating contributes to the community average.

Need a hint?

During the artist round, the genre hint costs 25 artist points. The song hint costs another 75. The song can come from any album by that artist. Hints keep your remaining guesses, and there is no timer while you play.

When does the daily puzzle change?

A new cover arrives at midnight New York time. Everyone gets the same daily album. Finish all four rounds, including rating or skipping the rating, to complete your daily game.

Can I play previous puzzles?

Yes. Visit the album-cover puzzle archive to play previous games. Archive games do not affect your daily streak.

Do I need an account?

No. Play anonymously, or create an optional profile to keep your scores across devices. Clearing your browser data can reset your anonymous identity.

Share your score without spoiling the answer

Use the share button on your results screen. It shares your score and progress without naming the artist or album, so your friends can try the same puzzle.
